10 Excavators Seized By IMCIM Taskforce For Engaging In Illegal Mining Activities

The Taskforce established by the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining has shown resiliency in its assigned task of ensuring that illegal mining activities are drastically curbed if not annihilated.

On Saturday, 5th January,  2019, the Taskforce left Accra for Apramang in the Denkyembuor district of the Eastern Region to continue with its mandated operations.

Though they knew where they were going to comb to fish out illegal miners, the miners had been given a tipoff by some unknown informants.

This development would lead to the illegal miners hiding their equipment and fleeing the sites.

This would not deter the Taskforce from searching the bushes and this yielded great results.

Ten heavy duty equipment could be discovered by the Taskforce. They were excavators and these are their breakdowns;
● 3 Doosans
● 1 XCMG
● 5 Hydromeks
● 1 Caterpillar

These machines have since been brought to Accra.
